GET TO KNOW DAPPER SCRAPPERS
Benavidez loves fashion. At his house in Vegas, he has the closet of a thousand wives. And when he’s not fighting, he carries himself like a high-gloss magazine editor, drawn to whatever strikes his fancy. He documents his weekly findings on an Instagram blog that he calls Dapper Scrappers, which happily bills itself as the “home for all things Fashion and Style in the fight game.” “I just try to capture outfits of all the fighters, all the styles,” he tells me while standing in line to get a shot of Holly Holm. “You come to the events, and it adds another layer to these people’s characters, their self-expression, their style, everything. I mean, it’s timeless. Especially at media day. These people wear this stuff for a reason, and it’s not to not get a picture taken of them, you know what I mean? They want to be shot. So I just come and highlight all their styles, and it really helps people engage.”
